Merrymeet Cottage

Merrymeet is a beautiful retro, 1950  Cottage on Rebecca lake, Located 20 minutes northeast of Huntsville off Highway 60, then Muskoka road 8 (the Limberlost). See map below. The cottage has been renovated in 2023 with new windows and doors, yet still retains its vintage charm

$1950/week Saturday to Saturday. $400 refundable damage deposit, $950 when you book, $1400 30 days before your Saturday rental date.

Huntsville has the nearest groceries on the way to the cottage. The refrigerator has a freezer and you can make ice in it.

Carbon filtered lake water comes out of the taps, and is perfect for cooking, showering, etc. There is a  ceramic/carbon potable water filter that feeds a separate tap beside the sink. 

Includes full amenities, cutlery, plates, pots, microwave, toaster, washer/dryer etc. Also dock, swimming raft, BBQ with propane, working fireplace, wood for the fireplace, boat with oars and stable fibreglass canoe. You are welcome to bring your own (max 9.5 horse) motor for the boat. We have a laser sailboat which we would be happy to give some lessons. There is a sandy shoreline, then deeper water at the end of the dock out to the raft. We have a selection of lifejackets but it's a good idea to bring your own for exact sizing. There is a fire pit which can be used on nights when lake of bays posted sign allows (sign is at the corner of muskoka road 8, which you turn down. Bring your own sheets, towels and pillows; the cottage has wool blankets and electric heat in every room, for cool nights.

#2 if you see a week that is open, and it works for you, complete this form with those weeks indicated  

#3 Complete the form on the right, requesting the Saturday to Saturday dates you would like; we will reply to your email.

#4 Pay $950 deposit per week rented; by email transfer 

Dogs

We welcome friendly dogs,  please no cats due to family allergies. 

If an essential is missing, or something needs repairing, please text or call us.
           
Check-In Procedures
•check-in time is 2pm or later.
•Your key will be left on the dining room table

Check-Out Procedures
• Please leave the cottage and BBQ as clean as you found it check-out time is 11:00am. 
•Please text or call or text us when you check-out and leave your keys on the dining room table. Thank you!

Merrymeet is 20 minutes south of  Algonquin Park where Canada's first Nations Peoples lived for thousands of years, now it invites people from around the world to experience nature in all her moods. Reservations are essential and many guests start reserving a year ahead, so if you plan on adding a trip to Algonquin park we advise you to book early.

Food and Restaurants

Bring your groceries. The nearest restaurant is friendly  'Muskoka on the Rocks'about 10-15 minutes away at the corner of Muskoka Road 8 and Highway 60 (you passed this restaurant on the way to Merrymeet. Other restaurants and groceries are in Dwight or Huntsville, about 30 minutes away.

Area Attractions

  • Hutcheson Bay is perfect for family swimming, snorkelling, fishing and canoeing
  • Rebecca and Bella lakes are joined by a small canal. Great bass and troutfishing and boating.
  • Algonquin Park - 20 minute drive away - campsites and rental equipment.
  • Solitaire Lake nature trail - beautiful views of Solitaire lake and old growth forest, pink quartz outcropping and gentle streams. Pack a lunch.
  • Deerhurst and Grandview resorts - full service golf courses - 20 minute drive
  • Bella Lake - foundation-owned private beach - accessible by car- hosts can provide access directions. If you brought a 9.5 motor for the Merrymeet boat, it's about 20 minutes away.
  • Hutcheson Road (private beyond the gate) -great for walking and mountain biking (has some steep grades, and its gravel, so you need to gear down).
  • Fieldale Road - paved road which you can cycle or run along, even a full circuit from Merrymeet and back again.
